93 SSEi code headaches 18 and 41 wont' go long post
I NEVER saw a ses light on this car till I did the following.
Nasty oil leak, suspected power steering cooling line that goes across front crossmember. Foamed motor, rinsed motor got red fluid in driveway, replaced line.
A day later no more red but a nasty patch of brown, foamed from underneath, oil sending sensor, oil filter, oil cooling lines to radiator, find leak after hose down. Both crimped ends of oil cooling steel line to rubber line have bit the dust.
Order part from dealer, that day I get SES codes 18 and 41.
Replace lines and while I am down there replace camshaft sensor because it was cheap and all I have read suggest that they are prime to go out.
Disconnect battery and it comes back on after 15 minutes or so 18 and 41.
I go and get crank sensor thinking I blew alot of junk down by plastic housing during oil leak search.
After pulling harmonic balancer today and finding tons of goo and metal/rust particles stuck to crank sensor I think I am in the money for sure. I replace the crank sensor and clean all the mess up and what do I get for the effort?
Codes 18 and 41 after 30 minutes, but the car ran good prior to light.
To further my frustration I then removed all coils, removed the cpu and heatsinks cleaned down to the head, reassemble and dialectric greased all connections and think I have it fixed. 20 minutes and it runs like junk. :(
What next?
P.* yesterday exhaust fell off at manifold and cat, new studs at exhaust manifold new downpipe and new cat are on it now.....wtf! She now misses quiety

I'd recheck the cam sensor & connection as that could cause both codes I beleive. I had a previouos car with a loose connector at the cam sensor socket that kept giving me simular codes. A drunk took care of my problem, head-on at 35mph so I never did fix it... fwiw.

Like Tim says..
Check wiring and grounds.. There should be a ground behind the PS pump and could have gotten bumped while you were in that area.

I am unable to locate a ground by the power steering unit. I can confirm 5 grounds on bracket for ignition module/coil packs are good. I am looking at the bracket bolts on power steering? I have group of wires that go to 02 sensor and oil sending unit but no grounds?

To put closure to this thread, was a bad ignition module. It was only giving the modules 2 volts?!? The cam sensor alone should pull 8 to 10 volts at line a and c with b grounded and key in "on" position. On the 93 the ignition module is responsible for this and on 94 they moved the task to the computer....I believe this may be why the cpu gets a bad rap on 94 and 95?
So far 14 hours of drivetime and no ses light or stalls hope it stays that way.
