Resonator (again)
I asked this before but I must be certain this time. I have been curious as to weather or not removing the resonator will help my exhaust sound more performance like. I asked my local mechanic about replacing it with a pipe and he said that might give it a rapping sound. Kinda like the rattle exhaust tone that ricers give off. Anyone know for certain or have experience in taking the resonator out of a Bonneville and has knowledge it doesn't make it sound bad? Keep in mind that I do have a Dynomax muffer that gives off a deep performance drone.

Neither my 93 SSEi or JSeabert'* 93 SSE had a stock resonator. I think they sound fine! Mine'* a better tone due to intake mods, blower, and hiflo cat, but they both sound great.

Nobody makes a catback for the Bonneville. Hector (99bonnevilleSE) at angryducktofuracing.com is developing headers and a bolt on performance exhaust. PM him or email him: hector@angryducktofuracing.com he can anser any questions about this.

A few yrs ago I had an T-Bird SC-car was all stock, came w/a resonator and 2 muffler setup(or 1 muffler and 2 resonators-however way you want to look at it!).
There was 1 in the middle of the exhaust(2 in and 2 out)that went into a resonator(muffler)to each side. Sounded really tinny and wimpy! All I did was cut out each resonator and replace w/a piece of straight pipe w/a chrome extension and it sounded mean!! nice rumble at idle and wot!!
At 1st I tried to replace them w/2 dynomax mufflers and it sounded worse then stock! just my personal expierance. Much better w/just straight pipe.

Remember, these cars were originally grocery getter baby boomers. Most new buyers didn't want the nice v6 rumble. That'* probably why the resonators are there. Interesting thought. If you want to know what an L27 stock with no resonator sounds like, I can make a recording of JSeabert'*, and then an L67 modifed with no resonator, new Cat, and intake. LMK. Yours should sound exactly like Josh'* if you remove the resonator. Better if you swap mufflers......you already did that, didn't you?
