Default interferance engine??????

are our engines, series 1 or series 2, interferance engines?????????
i mean if the exhaust vavle or intake vavle are at a full open condition, will the pistion hit the vavle?....the engine nuts would be able to chime in on this one.......if so this would make the timing chain integrity a must!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks,

nicky!!!

From what I've personally seen, chain breakage is very rare. I have 220K on my original chain. I have no plans on touching it until the time comes to rebuild the motor.

I'll rebuild when either a) it breaks, or b) a Civic is faster than me.
