Default cruise / brake issue

This is once again pertaining to my on again off again non functionig cruise control. It has been working as often as not of late, until I have to tap the brakes to shut it off. Then it seems to stop working for a while. So my question is where and how do I test the brake switch on the cruise to see if that is what is causing the problem? When I first got the car 3 1/2 years ago the cruise was inactive for a while due to a short in the brakes somewhere. This time it is intermittent. Any Help will be appreciated.

To answer your question, test the violet wire coming off of the brake switch for +12 volts when the brake is NOT depressed. This switch is an input to the PCM for cruise control and opens whenever the brake pedal is depressed.
