SSEi Heater Problem

SSEi Heater Problem
First-time poster, SSEi owner since 1992...
I have a 1996 SSEi which had a loose battery connection. when that prob was fixed, the climate control was flashing its warning that something was amiss. It blows cold air only and the only way to get hot air is to lower the temp to 60 degrees, let it run for 2 minutes, and then increase the temp to 90 degrees(!). I then get warmish air and manage to survive on the way to work. My mechanic has replaced the thermostat and seal, and checked for vacuum hose leaks. Any ideas? It'* cold here in PA!
Thanks in advance.

The blinking temperature means that you have a climate control trouble code stored, and someone with a Tech II needs to retrieve it (like the dealer).
From the behavior, I would guess problems with the air temperature mix door.

Sounds like your climate control needs to be re-calibrated. I've read in the archives about this and the only way to do it is via the dealer unfortunately...

Unfortunately is right...
The dealers are few and far-between and don't you just love that look they give you when you suggest that you might know something about your problem. I actually can't buy another Pontiac because virtually all the dealers in the Philadelphia area are out of the population centers of people who might be so inclined to buy one. Unbelievable. Thanks a lot for the suggestion...
