Code P-1870

Its related to the trans, and might have something to do with power to the trans. Thats all I know. I cleared it and the next 5-min drive it hasnt come back. Im going to keep an eye on it, but any input from anyone before I jump to rebuliding the trans?

Thanks guys!

EDIT: I should probably say, there was no noticeable reason it came on. I was driving about 70mph on the highway, looked down and saw it flash on. Car did not jolt, or rev, the light just came on. I have tightned the bolts on the battery since I stopped.

DTC P1870 Transmission Component Slipping

Garb...check fluid level and if burnt.

Might be time for a filter/fluid service.

Garb 05-08-2006 11:20 AM

I was hopin someone would say that. I dont know off hand what it should exactly look like. What should be warning signs?

Check your slip rpm's with the TCC locked up at 55mph and cruise control set.

But check that fluid like the other Bill says. It should be pink, and of the proper level. Check it HOT after driving.

Sometimes friction material can settle a few minutes after driving, making you think your fluid looks fine.

Scantool. TCC slip RPM's data line. Checking for TCC slip while driving is the only way to know. Should be about 10 rpm's, no more.

While in OD at 55mph with the cruise set (level road, no uphill/downhill).

If you don't have a scantool, or even if you do, check that fluid for color/smell/level after warming up/driving.

No scantool for me. I got the code from an Autozone scantool. Im gonna go out in a lil while and Ill check the fluid then.

Garb 05-09-2006 07:29 AM

Ok so the fluid wasnt quite right. Im gonna get a change ASAP. Drove around a while yesterday and light never came back on, so it may have just been a fluke.

Define 'not quite right'?
