Read these replies again. Check your vacuum lines as I suggested.

Code 56 is a quad driver modual problem.... Or in actuality its seeing a problem...

It controls

Boost Solenoid

Shift solenoid A and B

TCC Apply Solenoid

EGR 1 & 2 solenoids

Being that code 56 is the only code you have, and you don't seem to have any driveability issues other then 3psi of boost, I have to agree with Willwren, and tell you to check the Boost Control Solenoid, and related Vacume lines...

My thought is that the problem will either be a bad Vacume line or Bad Boost Solenoid...

Does anyone have the part# for the boost solenoid, the parts guys at my local dealership doen't know what the %#^* i'm talking about, and I don't really know what this thing looks like. Is it a dealer only item or can I get it at a parts store?

Thanks for your help guys, I really arreciate it.

Its funny that the dealership has no idea what a Boost control solenoid is... As many cars as GM produced with the SC'd 3800

Have you by chance check the parts stores to see if that have that solenoid, or could possibly order you one...

I have a PN# but I believe its the wastegate valve its self, and not the solenoid that you are looking for...

Well I'm back from Va-Ca and it seems that the boost solenoid was the problem, I've driven it two days now and it hasn't thrown a code.

Thanks again guys for your wisdom

BCS are the darnest things. They are small and seem to cause the most interesting problems.
