climate control
 

does anyone knwo how to get the climate control thingy to blow hot air out of the vents in teh front that blow at you....this past winter i turned it up to 90 degrees and it would only blow on the floor and on the windshield...anyone able to help???????/

I wish I had it, but like anything, yours is 11 years old, probably just needs a cleaning and servicing. My enviromental controls has 2 settings left...High and Off...LOL

I don't think its a problem with your electronic climate control...

That problem happens when the vacuum supply to your HVAC programmer is gone. Check for a vacuum leak (hissing sound) around the firewall. You may also have a vacuum line disconnected between your throttle body and your vacuum tank on the firewall.

I just looked at your post again. Will it blow out the front vents when set at 60 degrees?

When my 92 is trying to heat up the car, it will not blow out of the dash vents until the car warms up significantly inside. So I would say yours works fine.

If the above is not your problem then try checking the vacuumn pot next to the brake master booster. The fitting at the bottom can get damaged easily & when it does, you loose all the vacuumn assist for the HVAC system. :wink:

You didn't mention if you have the automatic climate control, but considering you have an SSEi, I will assume you do.
You can't directly select where you want the air to blow. Dependinding on what function you have (defog, A/C, heat) the computer will automatically direct the airflow.
On cold days when I start my car, the heat blows on the floor. After the car warms up a good deal, I'll see the blower indicator show that it's blowing through the floor and middle (or windshield) vents. There is no way to control this manually.
My wife's 2000 GP GTP has an automatic climate control but she has a button to manually select which vents/combination of vents to blow air out of. I really wish, at times, that I could do that.

I have a 95 SSEi and if set to auto mode, it will blow out whatever vents it feels is appropriate to get the set ambient temperature as quickly as possible. BUT, my furthest left paddle button, has 'auto' on the bottom and 'mode' on the top. if i press 'mode' it overrides the auto setting and allows me to select any vents i wish. I guess the 92 didnt have this option?

FYI- my automode never selects the top vents. Probably cause the way heat works. It rises, so heating the bottom of the car is the most efficient way to get the entire interior at the same temperature. If it just blew out teh top vents the tootsies would stay cold! and hot dry air in the eyes and face is one way to fall asleep quick on those late nights/early mornings! :sleepy: (thats my theory anyway) :wink:

it comes out of the dash vetns if i have it at like 70 degree...but once i got higher econ or on auto it just comes out of the defrost part or the floor...i dont have ac...i can just put it to 60 degrees....and i got rear defront and front defrost

If it comes out of the dash vents at all, under any circumstances, then the system does have vacuum, but yes, you don't get to choose which vents to blow warm air out of, except to override it for Defrost.

The A/C setting (when your air conditioning is actually in working order) will blow cold air from the dash vents, but for '92 and '93 at least, you do not have a means of blowing warm air from the heater through the dash vents. It will only blow it from the floor vents until the ambient temperature is close to whatever is set, then go to either dash vents, or a mixed setting (floor+defrost or floor+dash). Yes, whoever came up with that design should be beaten with sticks.

Best thing I can suggest is that you carefully take off the upper molding around the gauge cluster and lighter, which has the little grille near the lighter that covers the interior temperature sensor, and use a shop vac to snork up any and all dust that's probably covering up your sensor by now. That might make it a little more responsive to inside temperatures, if that helps at all...

my car does NOT have a A/C button on it...its weird i dont know why...
