click at low speed/vibration above 55mph
 

When I hop in my car, start it and put it in reverse, I hear a very noticeable click as if something is changing positions underneath my car. I also hear the same click if I go over some bumps at a low speed (in drive).

I'm also noticing a vibration above 55mph, from the front end. On the Interstate, the vibration is very noticeable near my feet and through the steering wheel. I've taken my car back to my Goodyear dealer to have the tires balanced multiple times by multiple mechanics. They say that the tires are in good balance. I'm not noticing any uneven wear in the tires, and I'm a nazi about having good tire pressure.

I've recently replaced the swaybar endlinks (excellent tweak to get some better handling) but the problem has remained. I can't help but think these two problems are mysteriously related by way of my lower motor/transmission mount. Does this seem like a feasable thing? The car otherwise doesn't bounce, handle unacceptably, nor wander in either direction.

One other thing, as long as I'm on the subject...Does anyone recall having their car make such a loud banging sound inside the car while driving over a grossly large bump? If you've ever ridden a city bus and have gone over one of them, you will know what kind of a banging rucus this makes. My car does the same thing, and I'm sick of it. Any ideas there?

sounds like something in your driveline? Cv joints,Wheel bearings?

Well it could be number of things that causr that. You could have bad sturt mounts and or strut or maybe cv joint, Um contol arm pins bad(had that in my corsica). As for the vibration that could be related but could also be related to the tires my bro car had small bumps on the tire that ause the car to have a slight vibration above 55 , I can hear at 45. But Iam sticlkey about my car not making any sounds. The other is in you replay you replaced the swaybar links did you do the back also. I had my reart sway bar bolts come off the the car sound terrible

Jack up the front of your car. Putting your hands at 3 and 9 o'clock on the outter edges of the tire, wiggle it quickly and feel for any play. (typically steering related, tie rod etc.)

Then put your hands at 12 and 6, wiggle again. Typically suspension related like ball joints.

Repeat on other side of car.

Perfect procedure above. I strongly suspect a bad hub/bearing assembly or balljoint.

I have the same problem........think I've got it narrowed down now to be the strut bearing drivers side......if I turn right and let the steering wheel go it comes back but when I turn left the steering wheel grabs a bit just before returning back.......and I hear ya, that noise drives you nuts :?

I will give that procedure a try and see how it turns out. The grease boot around the lower balljoints on the front of my car have little nipples with holes in them. I'm not concerned about those, since they look correct. However, there are holes in both driver and passenger side boots. There is some grease in there, and it will hold some, but the boot will never get nice and fat like they should. Dealer told me close to $800 for a new lower balljoint. Is there anything I can do about the boots?

Go somewhere besides the dealer. I'm sure you'll find ball joints are not 800 to replace
