click,click,click,click,click....
Im wondering if anyone had the trip odometer stick. Mine will go to 9 tenths and not roll over. It will sit there and Click. Ive been putting up with it long enough, and it will soon anger me enough to do something drastic... {fix it, or utterly destroy it}. Do I have to take the instrument panel apart, or is there a simple fix.? :?:

Yep, you've got to take it apart. I've heard of the white gear that runs the trip breaking in half.
However, yours is doing exactly what mine did, I found that the guides for the Trip number roll support bar were worn allowing it to slide forward and disengage. I fixed it with a pair of rubber bands... I've also heard that some Chevy pickups have identical odometers, So you could swap parts with one of those if anothe bonne can't be found for parts. |
Thanks alot for the tip. I was afraid I would have to get into thecluster. I might just wedge something along the reset stem to keep it held in until I really need to get into it.... :?

Go to the wrecking yard and get a cluster for ANY truck that uses a simular tripometer or odometer. Now, take it apart at the wrecking yard. Take the whole odometer or tripometer itself. When you get home, re&re your own cluster. Replace the end gear on the broken component. Reset the mileage to whatever you wish. If you take your time & be patient, it'll be an easy job to do, just take your time though. |
