Clearing Climate Control Codes and Computer - Anyone ??
 

Upon putting my Bonneville back together this weekend, I'm going to need to clear the trouble codes from my climate control computer. Hopefully, if the problem is fixed, the drivers side air mix door code should be gone, however I know it is still going to blink because it will be throwing the code that the battery was recently disconnected. I need to clear this, so that I will be able to tell if my air mix door problem still exists by the blinking (and not that its blinking because of the battery code).

I always thought you had to have a GM Tech II to get into and clear Climate Control Codes, but I was reading a post somewhere in the forum about a possible way to clear them by pressing a certain sequence of buttons on the display? Does anyone recall how to do this? My car is a 1995, and I cant seem to find instructions for clearing them manually anywhere in my Factory Serivce Manuals. ANY information or advice would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I gotta have the dealer do it (unless my friends at the local garage have a Snap-On OBD II scanner that can read and clear Climate Control codes, but I doubt it).

On the old-style climate control (the type where it has an ECON button instead of an AC button) one could enter diagnostic mode by:

-Turning the car on
-Pressing "Off" and "Warm" (temperature up?) at the same time

After a segment test, the climate control would display any error codes. To exit, press "Auto"

I tried it on my new-style climate control but nothing happened. Ah well; there must be a way.

Can't you reset the codes the same way you reset the PCM? Grand Prix's just leave their battery disconnected for 15 minutes to reset the onboard computer.

Thats what I was hoping to, but I found out last year, that whenever the battery is disconnected, the climate control computer throws a code "Battery Disconnected or KAM Memory lost." Heh. Frekin GM makes ya go pay the dealer that $75 for an hours labor to diagnose it (even though it only takes the tech 2 minutes, literally, to clear it) any way they can. Luckily I know some people :D
