Default center console latch -- velcro

I don't know where I saw this post for this fix -- somewhere on this site. Before I saw it, I went to a junk yard and paid way too much for a new center console with latch to fix my non-ED challenged center console cover. I got the new cover w/ non-broken latch and for some reason the latch doesn't line up with the catch and it didn't work anyway.

Get some self-adhesive velcro strips and attach to the latch and console -- fixed.

I wish I knew this before I spent so much money for the new latch.

The same thing happened to me when I bought a new one from GMPD. Easy fix though:

Insert a strip of 120 grit sandpaper between the latch arm and the spring loaded catch as indicated in the pic. Let the compression of the spring hold the sandpaper in place and sand back and forth to remove a little materal from the latch arm. Remove a little at a time until the catch holds the console lid.

Incedently, I got a lot of requests for this part when I announced parts for sale. GMPD has the part for $24.15 ($32.10 shipped) and includes the cup holder. The part number is 25639345

i like the new designed ones because you can remove the cup holder if you dont want it and also its built better. I did the velcro thing once but it was kinda a pain because the sticky stuff didnt always stick so well and it got kinda annoying becasue it felt like i was gonna rip my arm rest top off or if there wasnt enough velcro it would pop back open. after all of that i bout the new one and i am definately one happy camper.
