Default Hood Release

Hey just looking for a little help. My car has been sitting all winter, i have been starting it and letting in run for a while every once is a while and I went out to start it up yesterday. The battery was completely dead. I pulled the hood latch and it seemed like it was stuck then all of the sudden if pulled really easy. I looked up and noticed my hood didnt even pop open. Could this have anything to do with my battery? i dont see y it would because u have to open the hood to get to the battery so if anybody knows anything about this or has had this happen i would appreciate your input. Thanks!

Probably not related. The hood latch is not electrical. I would guess that your hood latch needs to be oiled. Pull the lever then hit the hood a couple of times right above the latch.

Second that. The latch probably just needs a little oil to help it pop up when the release is pulled.

And yes, you may have an underhood light, but it doesn't get any power if the car lights aren't on so that could not have drained your battery. More likely cold weather and lack of driving did that.

(Say, did you ever get the hood open after all that?)

Happens to me too. Just hit the hood a couple times to release the latch. Then definately spray the **** outta the latch. Then try to release the hood a couple times to wear it in.
