What are my choices when replacing a windshield?

:2guns: stone hit the windshield on the lower corner on the passenger side. I would leave the crack until it grew larger but I think the state inspection is comming up and PA wont pass a window that has a crack in it.

Where are the best places to go as far as qualty, price, and getting the job done right?

Well, you don't have the HUD, so if you have no glass coverage with your insurance go as cheap as possible.

If your glass deductible is 100 bucks or less, most glass companies will waive the deductible.

If you have to pay for it yourself, you may want to look into having it repaired. Usually costs less than $50 to have it done professionally. Small stars, chips, bullseyes, and cracks less than 12" can be fixed. This may be a good option in your case, since the damage is not located on the Driver's side and if it does not extend into the normal range of vision.

An even less expensive option, if the damage is repairable, is to do it yourself. I have had pretty good success fixing short cracks, chips and stars with the $12 kit that Wal-mart sells.

Some damage cannot be fixed. A glass shop can tell you in a second.

Next option: junkyard glass with professional install - $150

Next option: New glass professionally installed - $250 - $300

You guys should consider glass coverage, it only adds a few bucks more a year to insurance and its well worth it IMHO. As an aside, I always use PPG glass and have never had a problem with them. They OEM a lot of the glass for Detroit.

Keotok did it YEARS ago on an older Gen (87-91) first. You'll want the HUD windshield to get the quality of the image, though.

Would it be hard as far as installing the unit and hooking it up to the wiring harness?

3 have done it (and only 3......let that explain how complicated and time-consuming this little undertaking is). Damemorder and one other have posted entire procedures. Do a search on HUD INSTALL, search for all terms, and use Damemorder as the topic author.
