i recently put in a new fuel pressure regulator, which fixed my problems starting the car when cold. now that ive driven it with a tank of gas, it seems like im getting worse gas mileage than ive been getting the past 6 months or so that ive been driving with a bad fuel pressure regulator. i got around 24 miles to the gallon before the new fpr, and now my full tank lasted 330 miles. and the gas needle is slightly below the completely empty mark. i seem to remember my rpms at 55mph to be around 1200 RPM. and now they are around 1750 at the same speed. also at 65 its a little over 2000. is this normal or are my rpms a little high? i disconnected the battery for a few hours last night, but today i was still getting higher than usual rpms. i have also recently replaced the stock airbox with a cold air intake with one of the generic air filters they sell at kragen, are those things total sh*t? would replacing it with a K&N give me better fuel economy? i read on another topic that one guy who replaced his stock airbox with a cold air got around 37 MPG; im getting just a little over half of that. what can i do to get better gas mileage?? could it be that my transmission isnt going into overdrive anymore? what SHOULD my rpms be at those speeds? thanks.

Those numbers are exactly the same as my RPMs at those speeds. I don't think you have anything to worry about. We see all kinds of different mileage ranges on here, varying from model to model and with different total car miles. I'm sure my tranny is slipping more than it used to, but I get roughly the same miles per tank as you do, maybe even a little worse. I'm no gearhead, but I'd also guess that with a properly-functioning FPR you could expect some different numbers than with your old one.

All in all, it sounds like your SE is running pretty normally.

RPMS are ok...i changed my fpr and also noticed the drop in mpg...perhaps it has something to do with the motor starving for gas before...i also noticed an increase in power afterwards...

Same results of new FPR for me. The old one starved the engine a little. I lost 2 to 3 mpg
