Crusie Control slacks off on 95 SSE
I have what seems to be an odd problem with my 95 SSE. The cruise control will occasionally fail to maintain setpoint and start drifting down in speed slowly. If I turn it off, drive for another 1-15 minutes, then turn it back on it is fine for a while. Then the whole sequence starts again.
If I just push the accelerator while it is struggling, then it will begin to hold again, and all is well for a while.
If I just just let it drift down until it gets to a pint it can hold, say drifting down from 75 to 55, then after several minutes the traction light will come on and stay on until I turn off the car and restart it.
I can't find a vacuum leak, but it sure seems like there is one somewhere. Can someone point me to a good resource for technical info on this year model. I just got it from a guy a couple of years ago, and I've decided that my years of ignoring Bonneville'* was a mistake. It'* a far better can then I ever thought they were.

Not sure of the issue..however if the vacuum lines leave black stuff on your fingers..it'* time to change them.
Then I'd consider reading up on this thread about servo rebuiding

Crusie Control slacks off on 95 SSE
Thanks for the tip about black stuff. The reason I feel like it'* a vacuum leak is because my mileage has also dropped coincidentally. When I first got the vehicle I would get 28-30gpm open road calculated over a couple of thousand miles, not a single trip. Since the Cruise Control issue started I get 24-26 open road consistently. That'* a 10-15% loss, which is money out of my pocket for no performance increase.
The odd part is that it holds fine for half an hour or so, then there is an ever so slight but perceptible hesitation and it starts to drift down.
The link about rebuilding the servo looks good. I'll digest that later this week.

I had a similar problem with the cruise on my 94. It would drift and then sometimes cut out completely.
So I did the servo rebuild / clean up. Actually it was very easy. Just make sure to note how all the little pieces go back together.
Mine works like new now.

Wow, another great post ... my 94 SSE exhibits these exact symptoms.
Now, nobody laugh please (oh ok go ahead) ......
With the detail above, I'm sure I can do the rebuild ... if only ... someone can tell me where to find the servo?
(My car is still in the process of engine swap, and isn't here or I'd go looking for something that looks like the pics above).

It is attached to the rubber diaphragm that actuates the throttle.
Should be mounted above the transmission, in front (and below) the master cylinder. There is a cable going from the diaphragm to the throttle body.

I didn't realize where it (the servo) was either, before reading up on it on this site. And the servo is rather simple. Two coils (solenoids) that actuate two valves to modulate the vacuum to the diaphragm. That is it. The valves / valve seats get crud on them (and lose their ability to seal) and leak over time. Clean them up and it should work like new.
Again, watch the parts order when they are reassembled - it is easy to get them mixed up. I did the first time and the cruise did not work at all. I took it back apart, got it right and it has been smooth sailing since.
