Low oil pressure then 96 Bonneville starts but won't stay on.
I was looking for a reason why my 96 Bonneville SE won't stay on. I noticed an old post about low oil pressure which I was experiencing just before this happened. I used 10/30 when I last did an oil change. Im from South Texas so I did notice in the other post other stating that a heavier oil is better during summer heat. So what do you recommend I use? Also I was wondering if this could be the reason it won't stay on now. If not does anyone know whatelse it could be? Oil level and coolant level is norma. Please if anyone can help me it would be very appreciated. I've only have the car for about 3 months and have been taking good care of it.

Im not sure the exactly pressure level but, before it started turning off, the pressure level would start out normal (where the needle was basically centered on the dash) then after running for about 10-15 mins when stopped at a red light the needle would drop down just above the red and as soon as I pressed the gas the needle would jump back to the center. I hope that answers your question.

I hope its just your sensor going out.
Unplug the oil pressure sensor connector and look for oil inside of it.

Was just wondering...when you say your coming to a stop...is the oil psi hand the only one hand that'* dropping...what about the voltage temp and rpm....LOW OIL PRESSURE would definitely give a you a check engine...The oil pressure sensor would have oil in it or possibly actually leak as Mike stated!! I would start with ignition components first...maybe module!
