Hi eveyone,
I have had my bonneville for a few weeks now taking it out for short drives and i notice that it seems to be very heavy on the steering. it seems to take some effort to turn the wheel. I mean not real bad but a noticable tension. My question is this typical. I haven't driven any other cars that are this size with horsepower to match. All i have to compare it to is a vw passat(which sucks and i sold by the way), and my 05 grand cheerokee. My jeep is easier to turn that the bonneville. It makes no noises or leaks any fluids. thanks for the help.

Well, assuming you have an SSEi, they are a little tougher than an SE, SLE, or SSE. By design. But you'd have to compare to another SSEi to be sure. Assuming you checked the fluid and your tire inflation?

My 95 SE bone stock had really good heavy steering which gave me a lot of feed back... I actually liked it, But had to replace the Rack.... And now it light and I hate it...
Are we talking heavy as in comparision to a car with no power steering? Or heavy above 20 mph?

heavy over twenty, and stiff like it doesn't have power steering. it will snap back to center very quickly. firm grips is required.

Its something I would have to drive to be sure about... Most of the Bonnevilles especially the SSEi'* are more sport tuned... It took me a while to get used to the heavy steering on my 95 SE when I first got it.. Even my 91 has some decently heavy steering...
The 93 should have a variable effort steering system... And after 20 mph the assist is pretty much history, almost like there is no power steering... So at this point its hard to say if there is a problem..
I believe that there are a couple of members not too far from you..

was the TFE avaialble in 93...cause that could be a cause of the feeling of stiffness at the higher speeds

You know I'm not totally sure...
I know the Option T2V which is the Two Flow Electronic is on my 95 Bonnie...
