changing thermostat
well, Ive tried to remove the bolts off the thermostat housing for 2 days now with no luck, anyone have suggestions that have been sucessful?
|
The 2 10mm bolts to the side of the goose neck?
Try an impact socket or tap on the bolt head with a hammer while applying even preasure with a wrench. |
i didnt think about tapping on them w/ a hammer, thanks. My last resort may be an impact, but whatever I do im trying not to break them off in the housing, that would be bad.
After 145K these SOB's dont wanna come out :( |
201K and mine spun right out....hrmmmmm....what al have you tried?
And yes breaking them off would prolly buy you a new LIM....But then you got the bolts out??? |
lol, elbow grease, 10mm socket and WD40 ive tried so far. I just have terrible luck
|
Do what Pdad said to try...Also try taking a flat screw driver and a hammer and tapping the sides of the bolt heads....maybe pretty corroded in there...
This next idea can hurt, but let the car warm up idling.....for about 20 min get it good and hot....then shut the car off and try it....just may need a lil heat? |
well, hammered on it with the wrench, the engine is fairly warm I was driving about 10 min ago. No loosey loosey :( infact broke my 4th 10mm socket.

Those aluminum bolts would have snapped the heads off before a socket would crack! LOL. All the ideas would have suggested have already been stated... |
