I have a 96 SE with 110K on it. When I first start it up the traction control light (the one on the dash that turns on when traction control is not working) is fine. But until the car gets warmed up, say the 1st 2 miles or so, if I slow down to an idle, say at a stop light...the TC light will come on. It will turn back off after driving a bit usually 1 or 2 tenths of a mile. This never happens once the car is warmed up. I am wondering what could be causing it...I am thinking engine/brake booster vacuum? bad grounds? It seems like a bad wheel hub/sensor would have problems over a wider series of operating conditions.

Does anyone have any ideas? I really don't worry about it, since it shuts the light off and TC resumes just like clockwork as soon as I drive on a little farther, but I'd like to find the cause and fix it once an for all.

Almost seems like the movement of the vehicle is causing it to come on. You could check each wire that goes to the sensor connector, and check the connectors. Disconnect, check for corrosion.

Also, I wonder if you have any codes stored. Anyway you could get it scanned?

Check the WSS, sounds like there might be a loose connection or a sensor is going out.

There are no codes thrown or pending....in the normal OBD II diagnostics...I don't have a reader for the ABS . I'm not sure with the wheel sensors, if they are considered/read thru the OBD II port or if a special ABS reader is needed for the TC?

This only seems to happen when the car is first started and run and then stopped & idling. I can stop all day long and the light doesn't come on, once the car is up to temp. It never happens cold, until after the car is stopped and begins to idle. I suppose it could be a bad sensor or connection/ground ..but doesn't it seems like it would happen going over a bumpy road or driving through a puddle etc?. it never does. It only happens stopped a a light with a cold engine, get moving again, and it goes out within 10-20 seconds. That'* what made me wonder if vacuum at the brake booster on anything like that would be a problem

Heres'* when I notice it the most: And it happens almost every time...I leave my house drive about .75 mile get stopped at a light that I almost always catch...and the TC light comes on(the light never comes on driving that 1st .75 mile) Light turns green, drive 300-400 yards and the TC light goes off.. If I hit the 2nd light (400 yds from the 1st) The light may or may not come on, if it does, drive another 300-400 yrds and it'* off. On rare occassions it may come on at the 3rd light that I hit (1000 yds from the 2nd) If I stop and idle..but again if goes off after driving 300-400 yrds and then it never seems to come on again at the next 3 or 4 lights after that/...Usually by the time I go thru the 3rd light, the car is pretty warmed up... and it doesn't seem to happen again the rest of the drive cycle no matter how far I go and how many times I stop. I won't see the TC light come on again, until the whole cold start/drive cycle starts over.

I know this sounds kind of Mickey Mouse...but I'm just trying to share with you what I'm experiencing.
I'm not sure what all makes that light throw...but I'm willing to look at anything you guys suggest.
