You technically don't want a SSE pcm because they were NA motors. The SSEi was supercharged. Although when you look up parts at stores...SSE is the supercharged car.

What did you do for a wiring harness? Did you modify yours to add the pieces? If so 96 or 97 will fit and work for you.

Here'* the GM website to get a service number/OS ID from if you had a vin from a supercharged 96

To add to the above, be sure to NOT get a 97 SSEi tune...although a 97 PCM flashed with a 96 SSEi tune will work. The 97 SSEi used a 4T65 and the tune will not be compatible with your car.

As Bill said, you need to modify your wiring harness for the tune to work. Find yourself a good wiring diagram with the pinouts you need to add (like the boost control solenoid) and you should be set.

well zz performance has a l36 to l67 swap kid but im not to concern about the bbp because im only at 9.5 psi at wot and 11 at 5.5k on the rpm ... but i dont run the car that hard anymore but no i end up disconnecting the map sensor because i cant find what each pin is for i know there the 5v supply a com and a ground and i can figure that out on the car side but i dont know about the map sense ... and when i did hook it up it was reading ... 6in hit the gas when to 15 in ... i swapped the wirings around and end up killing my battery in the process since i had a pc hooked up to it and forced everything else to come on ... long story short the only thing i have left to hook up is the map and once i get a diagram or something ill be gtg ...

Google on one for sale and you will find a vin.

On the HD trans. ... if you want a 4T60 HD, put it in and reprogram the gear ratio. Presto. All set. If you want a 4T65HD you'll change the trans connector, add 5 wires and use a 97 pcm. (thanks to Ultra..dunno why I said the 97 would work. Trans is different) And yeah..I've done a 96 car to 4T65HD conversion. It was very very easy.

well got the pcm reprogrammed today and when to the junk yard to pick up the connector for the map sensor is nothing more then plug and play since i cant fine my old one anywhere... so tomorrow ill solder the connection and everything should be up and running as in 96 ssei and yeah i did thats how i came up with the vin ty though... but so far i notice a nice power boost at mid throttle but at wot feels about the same and im loving the tranny shift set point seems the 1 to 2 is 20 and 3 is at 30 and 4 is at 43 and od is at 50 under light acceleration or normal/old ppl driving im just happy that i dont have to wait for it to get to 50 to shift to 4 and 60 for od { speedo is off by 5 or so . so that not the real speed its shifting at} pretty annoeying exhaust noise with a cat and 2.5 in piped out . dont know how much my fuel increase will put i have 260 mile trip tomorrow so ill find out after i fix the map and plug in the boost controller...
since i know the tranny going to need rebuilding soon is there a way i can get it replaced and built with the internal of a 4t60 hd or is there some differences? also the guy that programmed it said it would cost 300 for him to get the program to unlock the pcm so it can be tuned ... and i think next week im going pay for it ... any suggestions on codes or sensor that i should drop? and or some tranny shift points that should be changed ? i really have no idea what goes in rebuilding a tranny or reprogramming a pcm so any info is helpful ty guys very much

The only difference between the 60E and the HD version is the gear ratio and the differential.

Until then though, you can have your current setup reprogrammed for your current gear ratio. Doing that is fairly simple and I'd bet the guy who programmed your PCM could do it for you.

yeah he can but the sad part is its 300 bucks for any of that unless i can find a ssei vin that has the my tranny its going to cost me for him to "unlock it" as he put it but all he did is log on to his gm account and load up the 96 ssei programming car started up ran and i was on my way becuz there was nothing else to be done...
