'96 Bonneville stalling, is it the exploding manifold issue?
I've been having some problems with my Bonneville stalling during start up and sometimes when parking and such. It would stall right after start up and then be difficult to start sometimes, and then it would run fine.
Recently it also had a small backfire on start up. On the way home, it would barely idle and I noticed that the voltage was dropping (probably due to the RPM dropping as well). It also would rev up to around 3500 RPM when I started it. I think this is due to the vacuum line popping off as noted below.
My car is a 1996 bonneville and the engine is a 3.8. The pictures were taken with the night image because my camera isn't very good.
I had thought the fuel, fuel pump or filter were the culprits, but read something on here about a regulator going out and a possible issue with the manifold exploding.
When I was able to look under the hood, I noticed a vacuum line had popped off and had moved on top of the line for a sensor (see pic below):
I tie wrapped it for the time being to help seal up possible vacuum leaks because I noticed the fitting was kind of loose.
I also noticed gas in one of the vacuum lines that came out after the car was shut off. I had removed it while running and noticed a slight amount, but more came out when it wasn't running:
I now know that the fuel regulator needs to be replaced, but I’m wondering if I have fuel down inside and what’* the best way to remove it? Also, I’d appreciate any links on the subject and anything to be aware of on replacing the fuel regulator itself.

STOP DRIVING IT. Do not run it again until you replace the fuel pressure regulator (the "thingy" with the vacuum line that popped off). If you ignore it, the intake will explode off due to the gas pooling in the intake, leading to a fire, and ruining many costly parts.
