Default ECM/performance confusion!!!

Once again I read the codes that my car was giving me and came up with the quad driver module fault. I was told that this is part of the computer and the whole ECM needs to be replaced.

Two weeks prior to this last scan the car was having the exact same symptoms it is having now but I was pulling a code for the EGR valve and not the Quad driver module. I don't want to go around aimlessly replacing parts but I have no idea which to replace first.

The most noticeable symptom is a lack of power or "missing" at higher throttle speeds. Wide open throttle from 55mph results in a stuttering that reminds me of a blown Mass air flow sensor but I haven't pulled any codes for that sensor. If anyone knows anything about this or has some input it would be greatly appreciated as I do not know where to go from here.

Two questions:

1. WHICH quad driver? Until you tell us that, we can't begin to help you. We need the exact code.

2. What scantool was used, and if it was a CP9110, was your foot on the brake at the time? That will report a false QD fault.

The code came up as quad driver 4. My foot was not on the brake when I ran the test... I was kneeling at the drivers side door. I cleared the codes and then started the car and scanned again only to find that it was back as soon as I started the car.
But yes, it was Quad driver 4.

And I used the scantool at my local Advanced Auto. I think it might be an Acron?

My foot wasn't on the brake pedal though... So it did pull the QDM 4 fault code and I do not know what to go about fixing now. Frustrating!

Another thing that I have noticed since all of this started is a high pitched noise that sounds like air rushing through a small hole. It seems to be coming from the front left corner of the car and I can hear it when I am at a constant speed, say 30, and lightly feather the gas. I have never heard this before until the lack in performance and the QDM 4 fault.

I am really stumped guys!

Alright guys. I just got back from taking the car for a ride. I went to the salvage yard and pulled an EGR valve to replace the one that I was pulling codes out of my car for a few weeks ago just to see if it was the problem. It didn't seem to work so I unplugged the MAF and EGR one at a time and drove around a bit to see if it would make any differences. It did not seem to help and the car is still pulling the Quad Drive Module, QDM 4 Fault code. I have no idea what mechanisms this driver controls or what problems it could be causing. The only time it acts funny is wide open throttle when the engine begins to miss/chuggle. I also have to crank the car over for about 20-30 seconds before it fires after I leave it set for more than 20 minutes. I am beginning to think fuel pump, but I haven't pulled any codes for this mechanism, and I think the car is supposed to if it is weak or has low voltage. Also, I can go WOT and it runs fine until the car starts to warm up or after about 2 minutes of driving. If anyone has information I would be thankful for the help. I begin work delivering pizza on Tuesday of next week and don't know if this problem is going to get worse. Thanks guys!!!

Don't mean to be a nag but this problem is bugging the hell out of me. Willwren... Now that we know it is a quad driver 4 fault did you have something to add? Much thanks to anyone who has some info or input on this...

You'll need to PM me when I get home. I can't keep up with every post every day. I can look it up later tonight if nobody beats me to it.

After you remind me (not now, or it'll get lost in today'* mail) tonight, I'll post it for you.
