r134a proper recharge pressure
Okay here'* a wierd one for you all:
My A/C was not woring properly: the compressor was working (line heading into the firewall was nice and cold, full of condensate), but the air coming out of the vents was only about 5 degrees cooler than ambient.
So I checked the refrigerant pressure while the ac was on full blast: 40psi... right in the 'blue' zone of the gauge, indicating proper refrigerant level, right?. I verified it with a friend'* gauge and got the same result. It ain't the gauge.
Finally I just added more refrigerant, all the way up to 60 psi, near the 'red zone' and guess what.... now it works like a charm. Ice cold air.
What is going on here?
Your thoughts are appreciated,
Corey

40 PSI is boarderline ok/low. You need to be at about 45-50 PSI for it to work correctly.....60 was a lil over kill but shouldn't hurt nothing

in all actuality freon is colder at lower pressure but u want to avoid freezing because then the freon would build up frost in the wrong places therefore not cooling properly.
