When you say the car won't start, what happens when you turn the key to the START position?

Do you hear a click under the hood?

Do you hear the starter motor sort of "grunt" as if it's trying to turn the engine, but doesn't have enough "oomph" to do so?

Do the car lights get very dim when you try the starter, or do they not change in brightness at all?

If they get dim, get someone to put a digital voltmeter right on the battery terminals, and get a reading with the key off, and a second reading while you are holding the key in the START position. Then report those readings.

The security light comes on solid for about 10 seconds when VATS reads the right key resistance. It then goes off.

If it's flashing it's not reading the rright resistance or something else is wrong. Try another key. And put the key in completely before turning the key to "On." Don't rush te steps. I had trouble with a 98 model with doing the insert and rotation to crank too quickly. You get no sound of starter engaging or solenoid on the starter clicking but current not turning the starter when VATS shuts down the circuit.

Lint from pocket sometimes gets on the contacts on the key or in the lock cylinder. You can clean the key with alcohol or a rubber pencil eraser. Inserting a wet key with alcohol may help clean the contacts inside the lock cylinder.

Glad you were ablet o get it resolved.

I believe GMPD was the lowest cost for the exact replacement cables when I did it. Although I didn't shop around much. Really wanted that problem gone ;)
