What'* better: rear O2 vs O2 simulator
Frank is undergoing exhaust fabfication. The shop that is making it said that they would weld in a fitting that will allow the installation of the rear O2 sensor and also include a cap if I decide to use a simulator. Since I will have the luxury of being able to choose and change if needed, would it be better to install the O2 sensor or use the simulator??

The O2 sensor behind the cat is only there to monitor the condition of your Catalytic converter. Those of us who have extracted our Cats use the simulator so the PCM doesn't throw a code.

Don't worry about the simulator.... I have one and I still get an intermittent CEL. I don't know if that means I have a problem in the wiring, but I would say if you know you've got a good cat on there, you don't need a sensor to keep an eye on it.
Ultimately, it'* up to you.

Hey Randy,
As the others have mentioned, a simulator just sends the proper signal (resistance?) back to the PCM to tell it the O2 is working just fine (or so it thinks! hahaha)...the other option is to install a rear O2 which just verifies the cat is working properly. I don't know if O2 sensors are calibrated for specific exhaust size and engine (I'm assuming they are since they change part #* every 2-3 years in various makes and models) so I am thinking to make things easy for you just go with a O2 simulator and you will be fine. We all know Frank is a happy camper and it not polluting

When I stopped off and chatted with Mr. Muffler last night and asked him to put up Franks windows.
Knowing they are putting in the threaded part for an O2 and having talked to Randy. I told Muffler guy to put the old O2 (currently in the piece of exhaust on the car) into the hole and that the electrical connector was sitting in the engine bay.
Frank will have a rear O2 and not need to be simulated.

Ya know, I just re-read my post and it didn't really make any sense. I was trying to say that I think you should use a simulator as long as you know you've got a good cat on there.
Alternatively, depending on the year of the car you could have the rear O2 CEL removed from the PCM. That would be my highest recommendation. Like I said, as long as you know you've got a good cat on there you're okay.

Just incase anyone wants to know, it'* pretty easy to build your own simulator with parts from radio shack. I think I've seen even easier plans than this on the net, but here is one example.
