Default Car starts then stalls when cold

Lately I have been having a problem on the first start of the day. It will start, run fine at a high idle, then when the idle drops down it will sputter and stall. Usually on the second start it will be ok. The rest of the day it will be fine. (although it doesn't always idle perfectly)

Any ideas? I have never looked at the IAC, but that is where I was thinking of looking first.

No codes are set, except for the occasional EGR code that comes and goes.

Thanks
Steve

Try the IAC, and look for a possible vacuum leak. It'* probably a small one. An EGR problem MIGHT kill the car at idle. Possible the whole TB needs to be taken off and cleaned.

I removed the IAC and cleaned it up, it was fairly dirty. This might be it, I won't know for a few days. Are there any areas where these cars normally get a vacuum leak? There don't seem to be too many vac. hoses.

I agree with cleaning the TB, I may do that in the near future.

Mine used to do that (always seconds before a light turned green, too). Turns out my TB was just the tiniest bit loose. About a half a turn on all three bolts to retorque 'em, and it'* been fine....
