Default 97 Evap return line size.

What is the size of the evap return line? The metal one. I 'm getting a lean code and low vacuum. It seems to co-enside with something opening because I can see the change on my vacuum gauge. Goes from 10.1 PSI to 8.3 PSI. I'm assuming something is wrong downstream of the purge solenoid.
Also what is the the cycle count and duration of the purge solenoid and vent?
~Thanks

You would think. But I'm getting a lean code and when I look at the vacuum I'm low.
I have replaced
  • all the vacuum lines
  • EGR tube twice
  • Fuel rail O-rings
  • Cleaned MAF
  • New Fuel Filter
  • Fuel pump is at pressure

you can spray some tb cleaner around with the engine going and see if something changes, spray around the throttle body and manifold and the different vacuum lines and connections

Even if the evap purge was open to the air instead of hooked to the tank, it'* not going to make a big difference. Vacuum is going to fluctuate with idle a little. Being that you are likely using the AC ....and that dropping idle slightly and many people commonly asking that question this time of the year, I'm going to ask if you are running the AC. Cause..loading up the engine with the compressor is possibly going to do the vacuum drop and rpm drop...and it cycles.

As for the lean code. How do your battery cables look under the rubber boots? Connections at all ends of all cables nice and clean? I've seen old cables cause P0171 before.

I clean my battery cables on a regular basis when I'm bored and just staring at my engine for things to do. I'll test the A/C thing because the light does go back out.
