Default Memory Steering parts

I have a memory steering problem. The clunk only happens on the left front wheel. My mechanic told me the "quick fix" kit that includes all new parts is $350 each. When I asked about just the upper strut bearing he said 17$, but he recommended the bearing with the mount for $110. This isn't adding up. I was told here that to fix this the parts would be relatively cheap with lots of labor.

Its a bit of a PITA to do the strut barring. if youv never done it and dont have many tools. you might be better off having someone do it.

The parts are $45 for Mount with Barring and $20 just for barring.

If the mount is not broken or in bad shape. the Barring will do just fine.

Heres some info on how to do the front struts

How many miles are on the car?

and does it bounce or feel like the tire losses traction over little bumps?

Not really, the ride actually feels relatively smooth compared to other cars. The only problem is the hard steering and clunking. However if the price is right and I already have the old one off...

If they feel fine leave the struts for now and just do the Barrings.

Unless you have the money Laying Around for the struts.. Then do them. But to get the good struts its about $80~ each. and sense they will be off... might as well do them if you have the $

The reason I didn't quick strut when changing struts was the springs. If you change to these..you won't have the same spring rate as you currently have on the car and will probably lose some handling.

Yes the quick struts suck. and buying the strut / spring by them selfs are cheaper and better.

Default Memory Steering Parts

Did you or your mechanic look at your lower control arm bushings?
