Or go to a locksmith, have them check the resistance of the pellet, and make you a new key. There are only 12 different key blanks.

My experiences with the key pellet are that the car won't even crank. You can turn the key to the on position and the accessories will work, however, when you go to start the car it won't crank. I just went through these issues on my 93.

Once you get the car started wiggle the key around in the ignition and see if the security light comes on. If it does, then there's most likely an issue with that pellet. You can clean the pellet with an erase (as found in this post: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ght=key+eraser)

How about the computer itself. I used to have a chrystler w/ a similar problem. It ended up to be the computer. It got wet and shorted something. It would shut down injectors while the car was running or most of the time it wouldn't start up. Thats just my .02 cents.

It may help to clean the electrical connections on all of the engine sensors with some electrical contact cleaner. No,not WD40 or it's like.Make sure the ignition is always off when plugging and unplugging them.If this engine has a MAP sensor you might try unplugging it to see if this helps when it won't start. With no input from the MAP sensor the computer will default to programmed values so if you get started it may not run quite as good .If this does get you started then replace the MAP sensor. For good measure I'd also look at replacing (or testing with an ohmeter) the coolant temp sensor though this is a bit more of a long shot. You apparently must do quite a bit of cranking .Do you smell gasoline? When it does a cold startup how high does it rev and for how long?Keep us posted.

The codes that I got are 17, 41 and 58. We are thinking maybe the ignition module. Normally the car starts on the first crank or two. We never smell gas and idols at about 1100 sometimes dips a little lower like rough idol. The engine light is always on as is the check gauge light. Even if we disconnect the battery to clear the codes the minute we hook it back up the engine light comes back on.

Hmm...they mechanics that pulled the codes on my car when my crank sensor was bad thought it was the ignition module as well, but I insisted they changed the crank sensor. But my light only came on after the car died. Interesting...anyone?

we are preparing to have the ignition module tested tomorrow. I posted the codes that we got above. If you can think of anything else to try please let me know
