Default Is it a downgrade? Bonneville may be back for a 3rd time

ok, here'* the deal in revised form for the third time. the bonneville is still in posession of my ex'* father. he wants $1000 for it but its currently "on hold" until his friend decides that he doesn't want it for sure. I still don't know if the engine cradle is for sure bad or if its the rubber bushing and i can't get pictures because the car is locked in a fenced-off lot. So, for $1000 I could get the car. My friends are calling it a downgrade but I personally hate my alero and believe the bonneville will last a long time.

Questions that I need answered:
1. Approximately how many miles can i expect the series 1 L67 to last for?
2. What kind of speed stats do the '95 ssei'* have? 0-60? 1/4 mile? please?
3. When properly maintained, what is the average real-world fuel economy?
4. How much would it cost to have the engine cradle replaced?

Pro'* about the car:
1. 67,000 miles, $1000
2. supercharged
3. complete owner and maintainence history
4. tires have slightly more than half-tread
5. safe with ABS and Dual Airbags

Cons:
1. Engine cradle may be toast
2. Needs $35 water pump
3. Needs $25 spark plug wires
4. Has odd stumbling when in boost (worse when using performance shift) - may be result of bad plugs an wires? or something even darker?
5. A/C is not working- leak in lines? bad compressor?
6. computer command ride is inoperative- i can live with that.

so, in a nutshell, i'd like this car as a project for this summer but don't know if its a good idea because i'm going to college in the fall. on the other hand, i can afford it and i think if its too much for me i could sell it again for around the same amount of money.....

Lightbulb Id go for it, but thats me

Granted mine is a 94, still Series 1 SSEi...
1. - Miles - 158,000 motors still strong, has a tick and exhaust leak but still strong... i think the tranny is getting a lil weak tho, slips occasionally, will be serviced in 2 weeks, ill update then if it gets better or worse
2. - Id say it would run mid-high 14s stock with a good takeoff, lots of variables, hard to say... once i get mine running right ill take her to the track and update on times at stock.
3. - I get an average of 18mpg city, 24 solid highway at 70mph and im having a 02 sensor light on and off, so its prolly a lil lower than it should be if the engine was at optimal performance, bosch 02 sensor is crap, replacing with acdelco 02 tomorrow (payday )
4. - No clue... but it could be an over-exaggeration and it might just need new bushings... need to know for sure first... but if all else fails, you have only spent 1000bux and its all there, parts alone would match that much $$$

If i were you id get it, if you can, slap a new water pump, plugs, wires, air and fuel filter, and giver her an oil change and see if she still stumbles under boost, if so there should be a code for something and we can go from there

good luck

alright...i need to convince my dad to go look at it with me. the way i see it, i can sell it for what i bought it for and it wouldn't kill me if i lost $200. i need a summer project anyway.

id buy it if i had 1000$
my bonneville is a 93 series 1 n/a
it has close to 160,000 miles
with no major issues besides the trans going at about 75000 which was under GM warranty
havent really had to replace many parts except for things that usually need to be replaced, brake pads, brake lines, balljoints, ect....
i like it

i'm hoping that it won't need too much, considering it only has 67,000 miles on it. are there any grease zerks on the car'* suspension?

ok...well, how are the front suspension components for holding up? as i remember, the car felt pretty tight the last time i drove it... and thats with broken sway bar ends!

she drives like a rail car... I prolly need to redo the entire front suspension but shes been runnin tight for a year, sat for 3, and i dont know how long its been since before that

she wont handle corners like my miata roadster but she wouldnt lag too far behind

thats good to hear. i wonder how much of a noticeable difference the performance suspension does when its actually working? i thought the car handled as good as, if not better than my alero. and for being an oldsmobile, it is a pretty good suspension setup.
