Need help with scan codes
I have actually wrote about this problem with my car before, but didn't have a way to get the codes, but i got them today. the book i have doesn't tell me what the problem is with these codes, and the person that scanned it for me didn't have the time today to do a more thorough scan for me. i am hoping someone can tell me what these codes mean. i really want to get this problem fixed..oh the problem is that my car dies when i step on the gas with very little pressure, but...only in the morning when it'* really cold..if i let it warm up and then drive it a few blocks moving very slowly the problem goes away, and it runs like a dream. go figure...anyway the codes are P1361, P1640, and P1406. i hope someone can tell me what these mean right away, as i have to drive a long way to work in the morning on the freeways up hill too boot, and it is very stressful for me. anyway, thank you for any help you can give me....

The 1361 code (probably the same) means that some of the communication between the ignition module and the PCM is not correct. The service manual can walk you thru a good diagnostic, but it is likely the ignition control module.
1406 means that your EGR valve is not responding properly to the commands from the PCM.
1640 is the Quad Driver Module. This means that you have an improper voltage on either the charcoal canister solenoid or the TCC apply solenoid. Sometimes this can be caused by a bad connection, other times by a bad part.

I would suspect the pcm...the engine computer...for the simple reason that 3 codes have been set at the same time....my 97 se had a fleck of corrosion shorting out the pcm inside the case...causing a code 1406...but i think ur 94 has the computer inside the car....good luck hunting it down,,thats half the fun!

The P1640 code happens when the computer detects an improper voltage from one of the following components:
1. Boost control solenoid
2. Charcoal canister purge solenoid
3. TCC apply solenoid.
You don't have a boost control, so it must be one of the latter two. Do you have any shifting problems with the trans? Do you have a rough or high idle?
