Code 55?
My check engine light came on the other day in my SSEi and after a bit of driving around it went off. Hasn't came back on since, but I decided to pull codes. I came up with a 55. Something about the EGR. Well anyway how do I go about testing one of these and what are some symptoms of EGR problems. I car runs fine and has no issues except every once in a great while when starting it cold it will start and die and then start back up and run fine.

Get some WD-40 and a toothbrush, and spray/scrub/clean the shafts and springs of the solonoids. You don't have to remove it. This will usually fix a digital EGR problem.

I removed mine, and did what Bill recomended. The EGR has not thrown a code in months, actually it was Halloween night the SES light came on...
Works wonders, and sure is alot cheaper than replacing the whole EGR unit!
