Default broken differential housing & differential Ishu, tranny

Hey I have a 92 bonney, the other day my tranny just went to hell. Got it home and took a look at it, where the half shaft goes into the trans on the passenger side. There'* a housing that bolts to the Transmission that the half shaft goes into and it was totally broken, right in half. So I got it off the car with a few hours of work in 20-degree weather here in Michigan.. Looking at that housing in 2 peices there was a big pin from the gears sticking out of the Trans that looked like it shifted a little out of place over time and slowly ate away at the inner walls of the housing. Im about to go out after work and buy a new one is there anything I should be aware of that I may be missing, that any one may know from experience ????
Thanks a lot,
Tom

normally i don't get on people for grammar online, because we all make mistakes, and there are times that we all just are a little lazy, but your post above is almost completely incomprehensible... I had to read it several times to understand (i think) what you were saying.

when you say you are buying a new one tonight, what are you buying? the whole trans? or the gears and a new case?

Default sorry about my spelling

Lol yah, sorry I am severely dyslexic. I typed the hole thing up in word and pasted it in the page here in the bonneville club forum. Sorry that’* about the best I can do with out having someone else edit it for me, and I cant do that here at work. But please bear with me here, I need to get my car back on the road so im not bumming rides to school and work every day. The part im replacing is the case.
..... sorry, thanks for trying

Sounds like the differential housing and pausibly the diff is shot too?
Did you remove the housing too or just the half shafts?
What condition does the half shaft look? Are the splines worn where the shaft inserts into the housing?
Can you take any pics to give us a better view?

Default cract differential housing

I don’t know what the correct name is but differential housing sounds good to me. And to answer sum of your questions I removed the housing and the half shafts. All the gears look fine and the same goes for the splines on the half shaft. my mom has owner digital camera with her on a bisnis trip :-/ for a 3 more days, I will try to work something out. Um how to explain…….. Ok there are sume gears that are connected right to the transition. The gears are held on by a prity good size (pin , dowel ?) and the pin appears to have moved out of place a little allowing it to grind a big grove in side of the differential Housing as the geers spin. Right were the big grove is worn is were the housing broke in half.
