Brakes? Noise from under the front.
I've got a squeal/squeek coming from the drivers side I think. But it only happens when I've got the steering wheel turned just a hair to the right of center. And stops when I touch the brakes.
Any suggestions? |
I think it's a good possibility. Be sure to check the inner and outer pads when you take a look.

Moved. Please post mechanical problems in the mechanical section.

If its not the pads themselves, check the inside of your rim to see if maybe the caliper is rubbing.
|
Ok got to checking the brakes... Nothing wrong that I seen. Both pads and the rotor were fine.
I don't think that the caliper is rubbing either. There was no places on the rim that where worn down or clean. |
99SilverSE, did you figure out the problem? I seem to be having the same one.
|
Nope, I think it may be a wheelhub or something needing greased.
|
Doubt the hub needs greased
OK IIRC the hubs are a sealed unit so no way to grease.
Have you replaced them recenty? I know on my 93 ofter I replaced the hubs, the dust sheid behind the caliper scrapes on the disc a little. And this also stops when applying the breaks. I fixed mine like any good redneck, with a large screwdriver and a hammer, and bent it away from the disk slightly. Is worth checkin even if you haven;t done the bearings lately. Am sure Will or a couple of other "Gods" here will have more ideas and probably be right on the money, they have always been with my problems AJ |
Strut bearing??
Pull plastic cover off of strut tower and shoot some oil in holes you see underneath. Drive a couple of miles and see if noise is gone. |
