my 92 bonnie with about 143k on it is having a few problems

its overrevving really bad and it seems that the over drive isnt kicking in


its at almost 5000 rps when accelerating to highway speeds

if im at a "track" and want the car to accelerate to higher speeds it will then overrev and the car will jerk and acceleration will stop.

some people say that my transmission may be going

any ideas?

It doesn't sound to good to me either. Have you checked the transmsion oil level and condition of the oil? When was the last time you change the xmission oil/filter? Other than these basics, you'll need someone with a scan tool to check the xmission out.

i dont know about the filter but i had a small leak and added about a half a container of leakstop transmission fluid about 2 weeks ago. i talked to the people at autozone and he said that the fluid should help stop n e leaksand stuff like that.

do i just take it to a mechanic to get scanned?

Your torque converter is slipping badly, and not locking up for overdrive. That'* what a scantool would tell you. You may want to try a full professional flush (about 80 bucks). Nothing to lose at this point. It will get worse, so when hot, the car won't go at ALL.
