Brake light staying on?
Picture the brake lamps/tail lights on your Bonneville (97 SSE). Half of my brake lamp(right side) stays on when my lights are on.
This results in constant pull overs, "your brake stays on on your right side".
Only HALF of it stays on, and my other brake lamp all work as intended, but this half that'* always lit up is causing too many pull overs for me to be happy.
Help?

My friend had the same problem turns out his light was placed in the socket going the wrong direction. He took the bulb out and put it in the other way and it worked fine I guess he just turned the bulb over or counterclockwise then it worked. Good luck
My lamp monitor says brake lamp out, and intermittently(sometimes as fast as 5 seconds on and off, sometimes it stays on for a few hours) it says tail lamp out.
This is not my car; picture grabbed off internet to show example. The half that is circled in red is always on when the lights are on...the other side only comes on when I hit the brakes, I believe, but now that I'm getting intermediate tail lamp, maybe it doesn't anymore. Will check this afternoon. Taking off the rear assembly and holding all bulbs in my hand, all of them light up how they should. I believe that a wire attaching into the socket is bent up/shorting out intermediately.

If one stays lit, that'* likely a bad ground to the socket/bulb. I'd check that one bulb and use an ohm meter to check the ground to the socket while wiggling the wiring.
All rear lights should be off during the day.

Only the outter 4 bulbs should light up when the brakes are pressed (day or night)
No one light should stand out on it'* own and attract local police attention. That light is simply a ***** and needs to be taught a lesson about you not enjoying each time you get pulled over. Although, this does give you a chance to interface with the local police and get to know them as people.

This means that my problem is on the OTHER side. My light that stays on is a parking light, meaning it'* supposed to stay on when the lights are on. Meaning my OTHER parking light on the left side is the intermediate one. Will check out the wiring when the rain clears.
Huh??? Didn't you say that one light (circled) is brighter than the rest w/o the brakes being on. If so, then check the ground to that socket. Reason behind it is that if the ground isn't good, the power from the parking circuit will travel the ground path of the light bulb which is through the brake element and then find ground somewhere after that. This lights up both elements in the bulb and makes it brighter than the rest. As though the brake light is on in that one bulb.
