Plan to put in an AMP and 4 speakers HELP!
I want to put in an amp and 4 speakers. I am geting Pioneer amp & speakers. Can I use the factory speaker wire that is already run? Or will it be to small in gauge? The amp I will get will be a 200 or 300 4 channel. If new speaker wires have to be run whats the best way to go? And will a 2 Channel Amp work with 4 speakers

Your stock speaker wire will handle that wattage.. however at a greater loss of power. As most women would say.. and unfortunetly this applies to most electronic wires.. thicker is better. Wiring 2 pairs of speakers into a 2 channel amp would drop the load down, so if you run 2 4 ohm speakers per side, you're running at 2 ohms. What this basically means is that your amp will work harder and hotter to deliver.. but will also be less unstable ( unless your amp is made to handle 2 ohm load or 1 ohm ). You're going to have to be a little more clear on what you're planning on doing before I can suggest anything else... I"m sure there'* a few other people in here are more then willing to help, and am sure more knowledgable than I..

Running 4 speakers off a 2 channel amp is a BAD idea.
As for using the stock wiring, it makes no sense. You are going to have to run speaker wire to the trunk for the amp anyway. So using the stock wiring is out of the question.
If you have any questions on how to wire it up (like getting power wire from the battery to the back), just ask, I have a '92 SE with a system as well (which can be viewed at my "WWW" link below this post). Good luck!

Hooking up the amp inside the glove box isn't that great of an idea due to heat and all those electrical wires running around in there. But is an excellent place to hide the amp though. As for hooking it up to the stock head unit for power... no no.... will not happen. You will blow fuses. The only thing you can tap into the HU for is pre-outs, and remote turn on switch ( easy if you can't find it.. all HU has a power wire for the power antenna.. and makes a good remote switch ). Main power in my personal opinion should be run to the battery for better filtration of RF noises and a more dedicated fuse system. You can run it from battery through firewall.. along the side of the passenger doors ( by removing the side trims around the floor of the door ), and fished through the back seat. ( on the side back of the back seats.. you can run a fish through it to pull your main power line thru ).
P.*. A quick tip.. as for securing it to the battery.. my battery has 2 extra battery terminals on the top so I simply purchased a battery post mount with a butterfly nut on it to secure any accessories that requires power ( amps in your case ).. they are from Crappy Tire for under $4 CDN.

First of all, you cannot fit an amp in the glovebox. Really. Get an amp and try.
If you put an amp anywhere than the trunk (like under a seat, in the engine compartment, etc) the amp WILL overheat and/or get killed by harsh conditions. In our cars, the trunk is the only place, reallistically, where you can place and amp.
And if you hook an amp up to a factory hot wire (which runs though the fuse box) you will blow a fuse. And blow it again, and again. And it you were to say replace that fuse with a higher rated one (BAD idea) you've got an electrical fire on your hands.
What you need to do, is get one of those amp kits (Wal-Mart has them). Hook the power wire they give you up to the battery, then run it through the door into the gromet (look at my website for pictures), then along the passenger side of the car under the door sills all the way to the trunk.
Then find a good spot to ground it in the trunk, I suggest removing the jack and using one of the case'* mounting points as a ground. Make sure you take steel-wool and expose the bare metal to make a good ground.
