Alternator Question.
I'm new to the fourm, and repairing cars in general.. but if I can install an alternator on a 1989 mazda, then alternator on a 1989 bonne, is a piece of cake. I'm about to get a 89 bonne for free in a few days. The alternator is bad though, and I need a new one. I plan on putting a good stero system in later, and would rather put a larger alternator in now. I did a search for high preformance alternators and found a brand called stinger. I'm wondering if I should just goto the autozone and get a replacement or put a higher preformance one in so I can do future upgrades, and wehre could I find high preformance alternators.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Do you know if his products carry and warrenty? I know that regular alternators at murrays or autozone come with warrenties. but I don't see anything about warrenties or anything on his site.

I believe so. The warranty is carried by the manufacturer. Email domesticperformance@attbi.com and ask him.

Also, is it possible to have too much power? I'm unsure of how large of a radio I plan to put in, but since I need a new alternator, I figured i'd be ready. If i don't put that powerful of one in, would I have problems if the alternator has too much power?

Not really. The issue is spending money on extra amps that you don't need. You could put that money to better use! Ty can make a good reccommendation on which one to use. Maybe someone else running a 250 pound amp can speak up here!

Depending on your stereo. Ive got a faitrly small setup and I drain a lot of power out of my system. Ive actually killed 2 alts because of this (One was diodes im sure the other was volt regularor). So right now im running my car stereo on the low end untill I can get a 220 amp alt or so.
If u do get a bigger ALT just be sure to upgrade the cabling going from the ALT to the POS Batt and from the NEG Batt to the Chasis. Some also say from the engine block to the chasis but I never do that one. I use 4 guage now with the 124 amp alt. When I go to the 220 alt I probably will go with 0/1 guage wire.
