On-Board Computer Code Reader / GM Model

I found this while searching for a new lift. It works with all GM cars (ODB I AND II, I called to verify) from 1982 and up. It won't give you the advanced options a lot of us are looking for, but it will give you an answer to that check engine light without having to risk more damage going to Autozone or somewhere else to get a reading. A must have, in my opinion, for anyone working on their own vehicle.

It's only $28.00US!!!!!!!!!

I don't know. I'm going to play devil's advocate again and say I don't believe that's possible with OBDII. First, there's only 2 pins in that thing from the pic, and they coincide with A and B on the 12 pin Series 1 ALDL connector. You can't read codes on OBDII that way. Too damn many codes to hold in memory for that price. I think somebody gave you some bogus info. I'm going to bet that won't work with 94 and up.

The OBDII actually taps into the serial data stream to access the codes. Some of the Series 1 devices like that wil have 3 pins. The 3rd pin is the SES pin, and the device will have flashing LEDS for the code interpretation. That one will only make the SES light flash like our paper clip trick.

Buyer beware.

First off that "part" is a waste of your money unless you are dumb enough to have brought it already! Second it can't work on OBDII systems since the "Flash" code feature is not there to send info to it! Try this instead: http://www.friedpoodle.com/ba/forum/viewtopic.php?t=163
This will work upto 93's! on 94/95's you left going to the dealer for some (OBDI system & OBDII Terminal) For 96+'s try this:http://www.autotap.com/ or this: http://www.obdii.com/ if you want to actually "BUY" a code reader!

the code reader in the pic is just to retrieve codes from the aldl connector on an OBD1 system. you can do the same with a paper clip and watch the ses light flash. OBD2 is scanner mandated

And this is why I post here... you guys ALWAYS come through with the truth. I called the company again with this new ammo and they didn't want to talk anymore. That's what I call CRAP.

Glad you posted. There's a rash of bogus crap lately. Even bogus vendors. If you've read what happened with Floz in the Vendor's forum, you know what I mean.

Everyone look out for everyone here. No wasted cash!
