Heater fan/blower not working
Hi all,
First of all, I have done a search before posting this, but nothing seems to be directly related to my problem. Anyway...
On my '99 bonnie, the heater fan doesn't turn on. It used to be and intermittant problem; now it almost never works. Doesn't matter if it is set to floor, defrost, vent, etc., and it doesn't matter where the temp **** is.
The problem started a couple years ago, but was intermittant and very rare. Over time the frequency has inscreased to now almost never working. Until recently, it even used to turn on when hitting a big bump (???). Weird.
Any ideas will be GREATLY appreciated. It'* been 10 below here is south dakota the last couple weeks.
thanks,
Jesse

Disconnect the connector at the blower, connect your multi-meter to it and turn your power on high, do you see 12V?

Being that you mention a heater **** instead of a button, it sounds like you have the manual controls. This would mean that your high speed shoudl be direct to the relay and not going through the resistor. The short version of the above babble is ... it should be your blower motor.
Checking for power at the motor in the high speed position woudl be the best test. Also try tapping the motor a bit..if it starts, the issue is the motor.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I tried tapping the blower motor and it works, albeit only about 50% speed (judging by the sound).
And yes, I do have the manual controls (*****).
I havn't had a chance to do the multi-meter test yet, but is it safe to say it is the blower motor that is bad?

Ok, thanks to everyone for your responses. I'm sort of an ebay junkie, so that'* the first place I looked. Can anyone with a better mechanical eye than me tell me if these seem like legitamate deals?:
