Pulling motor!! What is the best way to do it??

Default Pulling motor!! What is the best way to do it??
Hi guys i have to put a new motor in a 1996 Bonneville SE, trans is still good.
Is it easier to pull the trans and motor as one? Or just pull the motor and leave the trans in the car? Any tricks i would love to hear!! Can i do it with out pulling the Rad.?

The old motor (70,000miles) starting missing real bad, pulled plugs two cyl FULL of oil!!

Before you consider the engine done, remove the upper intake and tell us what you find... They are known to fail in a bad way... Its rare for a 3800 to die like that... If the engine is blown well that would be bad... But get a good look at that intake first...

doing it both ways is really easy its just a matter of choice

i perfer just pullin the motor over pullin everything but thats me

Can a leaking intake put oil in the cyl?

Generally no.... But the mixture of the moisture with the PCV vapors can cause a lot of diffrent issues... There are 2 hidden lower intake manifold bolts under the upper intake, I'll bet they will be totally covered in oil...

If you are going to replace the motor, we ask that you disect the upper and lower intake for issues, as well as a series of pics if you wouldn't mind...

Pulling the rad will be nothing compared to pulling the engine, and yeah it makes it easier to remove the radiator. Pulling the engine with trans is a little more work than just pulling the engine. Techinfo article here:

Engine by itself is typically easier because you don't need to mess with axles and all that fun.
