Default Old problem, too lazy to ask before

A long time ago my remote key entry thing-a-ma-jig worked, but sadly it hasn't been working for the longest time...guess I learned to live with it, but it would be nice to have it working again. What are the steps to get me back in business? I replaced the batteries in the remote itself with no luck.

If stock, check http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=59

or get a GMLink account and grab your owners manual from there (www.pontiac.com)

Yeah I read that and the 95 techinfo over, but why would it slowly degrade in working till the point when it just did nothing when I pushed the buttons?

I would guess batteries, but when you replace the batteries, you then have to re-synch the remote. Generally by pushing Lock and Unlock at the same time for a few seconds. You'll need to check your specific year to find out.

The contacts inside may be wearing out or getting dirty.
