I'm pretty new to this site but it has helped me already and I'm hoping you can help me more. It started when I replaced the fuel gauge sending unit on my 97 Bonneville (I also have a 93), since the car has over 200,000 miles I decided to replace the fuel pump and filter. It would start and run for a few seconds then die, so I checked the fuel pressure and it only had about 10 psi with the vacuum line on and off. I thought it might be the fuel pressure regulator so I replaced it and it still acts the same. HELP!

Can you hear the fuel pump running? If not, check teh fuse. If you hear it run then shut off again, check the VATs key. That'* teh chip on your key. Try using a different key.

i can hear it run for a couple of seconds, i tried a different key with no luck. when i first connected the fuel pressure gauge it had 0 pressure then when i started it and it ran ran a few seconds the pressure went up to about 10 psi.

If the pump is running, even for a few seconds; you should build up more than 10psi. If the fuse is good, the pump was new and installed correctly, the fuel filter was installed correctly and you have a new fuel pressure regulator, and VAT'* doesn't appear to be a problem...I would check the fuel pump relay, the vacuum hoses, fuel return line and hose for any pinching.

this might be irrelevant but my 94 toyota pick up was doing the same thing. it was the fuel pump relay. when the ignition is on start it kinda hard wires the relay then relies on current to hold the relay. or something like that. lol. like i said might be irrelevant but it rang a bell.
try switching your light relay (relay "A'' i think) with your fuel pump relay (relay "N" i think) if it runs then you've found the problem but get a new one so you have head lights

I swapped out the fuel pump relay with another one, the vacuum lines all look good and the return line looks good. I did notice I have a slight leak in one of my injectors now but I don't think that would cause this problem.
