Default Traction Control and ABS

Hi Guys, My traction Control light and ABS light are both on. Needless to say my traction control doesn't work. Can anyone give me a heads up on where to start looking for the cause of this problem, or has anyone had this problem before. Thanks, Chris

Expensive system to repair. The major components are:

EBCM (the computer, rarely fails, but costs ALOT)
PMV (common culprit, this is the big valve/pump assembly under your airbox) $1000 installed
Wheel speed sensors

Start by checking the 4 wheel speed sensors. Plugs and harnesses. If they all look good, you're going to have to go to the dealer for a scan of the system. No other way to do it.

Snow can mess up the sensors. Snow will also mess with your ELC sensor as well. Snow, ice, salt, and gravel/sand buildup this time of year is yucky.

Be warned, the Dealer will probably charge you $80 in shop time just to diagnose. Take the car to the carwash and try to douse the backside of the hubs with the pressure wand.

Thanks for the input, my Mac man is going to hook up a scan tool from his truck to help me pinpoint the problem. Its amazing what these guys will help you with when you owe them money . He'* pretty cool and besides I buys a ton of tools from him.

I tried to clean the areas you mentioned with no luck but it was a good idea. Thanks again I'll keep you posted. Chris

Your trac. cont. stops working when you have a abs prob. fix your abs prob. and trac. will start working again.

Sorry, you need the serial reader for the EBCM at the dealer. Your mac guy ain't gonna help.

This doesn't read through the standard ALDL connector. It reads through the EBCM connector mounted on the firewall between you and your passenger (to the right of the loud pedal).
