L36 to L67 engine swap questions
I've got a '96 with the series II L36 in it. How hard would it be to swap in a series II L67? I can't seem to find any info on it, but I thought I've seen at least one sig with an engine swap listed. Could I use my stock 4t60e tranny and axles? I suppose that I would need a different pcm. What about the sensors and sensor locations? Would I have to use part of the harness from the supercharged car?

I'm researching a Series II swap into my 90. I have a couple of buddies that own towing companies and frequent the local auctions. It'* my intentions to buy the entire car so the whole engine, trans and subframe and wiring harness assembly could simply be bolted to the car. Not to mention the fuel tank and the nylon lines. This seemes like the way to go cause the electrical part is going to be very time consuming.
As far as piecing it together, this site is pretty informative: http://www.l67swap.com/

My car already has a series II in it though, so the wiring "should" be the same or pretty close. I checked out that website too, and I has absolutely nothing that helps me. It is all for W-bodies and swapping from like a 3100/3400 to an L67. Someone has to be out there with info on this!

Great idea if they finished it yesterday. My car is laid up now. I had the upper intake failure with my engine and I think it ate away at the internals too much. That, and my oil pump took a crap. The engine has 144K on it and I figured that it be a waste of time and money to rebuild it, so I'm going to replace it. I found a place that has plenty of L36'* and L67'* for about the same price (all of them around 60-70K miles for about $500-$700 dollars.)

ok well to pit in a L67, you will need PCM FULL engine wiring harness, and transmission. Not sure if the electronics( gagues) will be compatable, you might wnat to contact Intense about the PCM and compatability between L36/67

Have swapped both l36 and l67'* into Fiero'* with no problem. My suggestion is find a 96 PCM that was from a l67 car with the 4T60E and rewire for it. If not the 97 up l67'* used the 4T65E HD tranny which uses a different program to run. Some moving of wires at connector for PCM is required as well as moving map sensor wiring and adding the boost solenoid to the harness. The motor and tranny mounts interchange but depending on model you may need to use your l36 oil filter adapter for clearance. Dan

You can just bolt that engine right up to your 4t60-e and you'd have some nice gearing. But that engine sin't gonna be too friendly. If you've got a lower mileage 4t60-e tranny, i'd say just get larger */c pulley or headers to make the engine have less low end torque. And if you get a 96 L67 pcm and wiring harness,(like Fieroflyer was sayting) it shouldn't be too hard. But if you've got higher mileage trans, you should definitely get a 4t60-hd tranny and axles.

The trans has 144K on it too. Seems like it'll be more work than I want right now. Guess I'll just replace it with good old n/a
