Default car battery question

how long do most last? mine says 7 years but i have no idea how old it really is.

what are some signs of a dieing battery? cuz once in a while my car will take longer to start and when i look at the battery meter it shows under 12 volts, i know that starting ur car takes alot of power but my battery seems to go low really easy. like if i leave the inside lights on for a few mins when the cars not on u can see the meter has droped alot and it has that not enought power to start car feeling when i try to start the car.

The "7 Year" part is how long the battery is warranted for(IF you have the original bill of sale). Then they prorate it from there. Your Voltmeter will not show the true condition of the battery UNLESS it reads 10 Volts before you start the car. Then you know one of the cells has died. If you belong to one of those price clubs(such as Costco) I would buy a battery that gives you a full refund if the battery fails in less than 2 years. A battery today is really cheap insurance. When in doubt, take it out, and trade it in for a new one.

Your assuming, of course, that he has a Delco Battery in that car. I don't know too much about those "Green Eyed" monsters, but isn't that "eye" checking the condition of just one of the cells???

Have you checked your alternator to make sure you are charging properly. Sounds like maybe your battery is taking a charge or part of one. Should check to make sure which one is giving you the problem.
