Default 92 N/A in a 94 N/A body?

I'm looking at buying a totalled 92 SE to pull the engine out of and swap into my 94 SLE. Is this going to end up being an easy swap or will I need to do wiring and swap computers and crap?

And as for the transmission, the same questions apply... the 92 transmission is good, mine is good but since the motor is locked it'* going to be hell trying to get the flywheel unbolted from the torque converter... I'd rather swap the motor and trans as one unit.

It can be be done. Take the ECM with the engine + trans.

Is it the alum topped L27? Got EGR? might one of the valve burning engines.

I'll actually be getting the entire car... good front end and all. Anybody for some 92 headlights?

Anyways, back on topic, I don't know if it'* EGR less or not. That'* part of what I'll find out when I look at it tonight. Is the wiring the same, just different ECM?

Pull them both out as one unit, unbolt trans from engine and gently seperate the two. Torque converter will just stay attached to the flywheel. Then you should be able to access the 3 bolts.

That'* what I figured with the headlights

As for unbolting the trans and the engine and using the 92 engine and 94 3.06 trans, I know I'll need to use the 94 computer to control the transmission. Will the 94 computer work with the 92 engine, even if it'* EGR-less?

I looked at it tonight, it'* the aluminum intake and no EGR. Not quite so desirable anymore, but still an option for the short block with my current heads and intake, and parting the rest of it out.

:: sigh ::

I'd go short block now, knowing that, but not until I did a compression check. Both wet and dry. If the wet improves over dry, ditch the shortblock idea. If the wet is the same as dry, take the short block.

Another option has come up. I've found a motor and transmission from an 94 Olds 88 with 100K for $375, or $200 for just the motor. Considering the condition of my current transmission, an exra $175 for a solid transmission is worth it to me.

I currently have the 3.06 trans, and the 88'* came with either the 3.06 or the 2.84 (i believe). If this car doesn't have the same 3.06 that I have, the ONLY thing I need to do to make the 2.84 work is put the Olds computer into my Bonne and things will be a-okay... right?
