quick question
My power steering fluid is looking like it may be original so I was planning of flushing out the old and putting in new.
Question is........ do I use ATF or is there a power steering fluid to use?

PS fluid. It'* ok to top off PS fluid with ATF, in my opinion, but there are enough differences that, if I were replacing the fluid, I'd use power steering fluid.

I replaced mine with Lucas stop-leak conditioner. It helped as far as feeling uniform, but man when you first start it in the cold, that wheel can be hard to turn, esp. if you're trying to get out of a parking spot. Stuff is mad viscous.
I may drain it here, it didn't really do anything for making the ps pump quiet down, nor did it make a difference for the slight vibration that is had when turning and driving very slowly, or stopped.

I can't believe how dirty that power steering fluid was. I had to drain and flush 3 times with ATF before the oil was coming out clean. Filled with Prestone power steering fluid the final time. I'm surprised that I don't have any issues with the power steering after seeing what came out of there.
On another note, looks like a LIM job coming up soon, coolant leak spotted behind the accessories right where the LIM joins the block. :(

No coolant in the oil and so far it'* just a minor leak, but I'm making plans.
Close to 200,000 km and no sign that it'* been done before, I suspect it'* overdue.

If you're fussy like I am, take the PS pump off and open it up.....I know you can do this with the older ones but not sure with newer.......inside there is a magnet that should be cleaned and O-rings that need replacing. You can buy a rebuild kit (consists mainly of o-rings and seals and it'* dead simple.
