One of the wheel speed sensors probably got disconnected.

On each wheel, there is a wheel speed sensor. If any of them are not operating properly (such as when unplugged), the ABS controller disables the ABS system. Go around to each wheel - you should see a wire coming out of the hub, on the back side of the knuckle, connected to another wire. Disconnect and reconnect each of the sensor connectors. That should take care of the problem!

Yeah, the speed sensor is an integral part of the hub/bearing assembly. I'm still convinced that the sensor came unplugged, in which case you simply need to take the wheel off, reach around to the back of the hub (behind the knuckle), take the connector off, and put the connector back on. Hey, if it doesn't work, you're only out about 5 minutes of time. :smile:

Unfortunately, if it turns out to be a bad speed sensor, and that light really bugs you, a new hub/bearing/sensor costs about $300 plus labor. If you find a good used one, I wrote up instructions for a DIY installation in the Techinfo section here on Bonnevilleclub.com.

:cry: I got my new rims put on today and I was so excited...but when it got dropped off for me, as soon as I started it, the anti lock brake system light didn't go off like it's supposed to. It never goes off...it's on from the time i start my car, to the time i shut it off, and I have no antilock brakes. Does anyone know what could be wrong? hopefully a quick home-made fix...

I got a computer scan done on it, and the guy said it is showing something like the problem is in the left rear wheel...but he said something about the sensor and ball joint being all one too...?? :???:

Anyway he has come to the conclusion that it is a bad wire or something running from the front to the back...but i won't be able to get in for him to get a really good look at it until next week.

Mine does the same thing except my traction control light is on as well. Run a computer scan and it said it was something wrong with the abs module itself.....yippie only a $400 part.

Hey good news, you don't have to buy the whole damned hub assembly. You can get a speed sensor off any GP and wrecked Bonne from a junkyard for 70 or so. Yes it can be individually replaced.
